Concentration pills and kids

 

Children who suffer from Attention deficit or focus issues are usually given these concentration pills. People from ADHD and ADD are most common disorders that needs focus to do their work. Since these disorders have the major issue of attention diversion kids with these disorders need something for concentration and focus on work.

Focus pills affect the brain

Every concentration pill works different for every child. These pills have amphetamine based stimulators that help in stimulating neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine. As the level of neurotransmitters rise, the effects for focus heightens. The other effects such as higher energy levels, a prolonged calmness and the feeling of euphoria which is due to the stimulation in centre of the brain.

Since neurotransmitters are available in the prefrontal cortex a part of the brain which is responsible for the executive functioning which makes sure the cognitive functioning is effective.

Are focus pills addictive for kids?

The focus pills are not that addictive because they don’t have drugs like opioids. But the frequent use for the focus pills can have withdrawal symptoms like;

·         Depression: If the requirements of the tasks are not being met then the child will become depressed ultimately failing to do all the tasks of school.

·         Exhaustion: the extra neurotransmitters produced by the pills will be stopped causing the body to crash if the pills are not taken.

·         Irritability: the irritation in mood will also be a factor because body is exhausted and anything that will be against the will of the mood child might feel irritability.

·         Disturbed sleep patterns: the shift in the sleep will be present as well because with the taking of pills neurotransmitters prevent you from sleeping because the senses are heightened causing disturbed sleep.

·         Mood alterations: the shift in mood is also common the reason for that is body is not as active as it is after taking the pill which causes the body to feel tired.

Can focus pills help kids become smart?

They don’t specifically make kids smart but yes they do help kids maintain focus on the work at hand. They basically help kids get motivated to work in a short span of time. The amount of time it takes for kids with the issues of attention can shorten after taking the focus pill.

Side effects in kids

Sleeping issues: these stimulants make it difficult for kids to go to sleep. The neurotransmitters that are produced due these pills give a boost to the energy making it impossible to sleep for children.

·         Loss of appetite: these pills make it difficult for the kids to eat because of the heightened sense and a boost in energy.

·         Fainting or dizziness: some chemicals in the pills can cause dizziness or fainting in the children.

·         Growth changes: there may be some changes in growth in children. That maybe caused by the medication in hormones.

Conclusion:

The ingredients in the formation of these pills usually contains the elements that are safe to use. These include vitamins, fish oils etc. that are not that harmful to use for kids. But this does not mean that children can abuse the focus pills just to get their work done. They need to have a proper schedule to help them in concentration.
